Luminance - what is a serum?

Serums are skincare products designed to deliver potent active ingredients directly into the skin. There are many different types of serums out there in the market. But how do you know which one to choose, and which one is good for you? And, do you really need them?

Let's look into this:

  •  Serums usually contain a high concentration of active ingredients, such as vitamins, antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. These ingredients target specific skin concerns such as aging, hydration, brightening, or acne.
  •  The molecules of the active ingredients in serums are smaller than those in other skincare products like moisturizers or creams. This small molecular size allows the active ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin, reaching the dermis where they can have a more significant impact on skin health.
  •  Serums are formulated to address specific skin concerns, whether it's reducing wrinkles and fine lines, improving skin texture, brightening complexion, or providing hydration. By targeting specific concerns, serums can deliver more noticeable results compared to general skincare products.

There are different types of serums too, from oil based serums, gel serums, water based serums and even powdered and balm like serums.

So, which one is right for you?

Well, what is it that you need? Do you need more moisture, or one that targets fine lines? Or is it more to assist with the texture or brightness of your skin?

And when do you use them?

Well, it depends on what the ingredients are. Some oil based serums can be actually too oily for your skin to absorb on a daily basis. Others have extremely potent actives that are only necessary for your skin occasionally throughout a week, and it also depends on your skin type, environmental factors and age. It is recommended that most serums on the market are not essential to people who are under the age of 20.

The White Cloud serum, Luminance is a targeted, highly potent hydrosol based serum, specifically designed to help with firming and toning the skin, and is for people over the age of 30. It contains:

  • Watermelon Glycerite is a humectant, which draws moisture into the skin*, it also has a high content of lycopene which can help firm the skin.
  • Ocean derMX – a New Zealand laboratory contains Red Seaweed and Mamaku black fern that lifts the skin and firms it, not just on the surface, but through the epidermal layers.
  • Rose hydrosol is the key player in the formulation as it is the carrier for the other ingredients. It is also great for toning as it is astringent and anti-inflammatory.

AND 94.3% of the ingredients are from here! New Zealand!

So, enjoy this light, but incredibly powerful Serum only twice or three times a week, after cleansing and before moisturising.
